• War in the West.... (Illinois/Indiana)

Much fighting in the west involved African Americans. Their leader, Chief Joseph Brant, lead a number of great attacks on the British.

  • Victory at Vincennes

George Rogers Clark, a colonel in Virginia militia.Set out to end the British attacks on western settlement.In July 1778. Clark and 178 soldiers sailed down the Ohio River for two months until they got to the Tennessee River. The British surrendered after the Americans captured Vincennes.

  • Struggles in the south........ ( American )

In 1776 they had crushed loyalists at the Battle of Moors Creek. North Carolina had saved Charles Town. 1778, The British realized that bringing the American colonies back into the empire would not be easy.

General Henry Clinton commanded 3000 troops to many British victories. but that cant stop the armies of the determined Americans soon they will be running for there lives.

  • Guerilla warfare

Francis Marion was a quick and smart guy. He was a "hit and run" kind of guy. He used the technique of the guerilla warfare. The British could never catch him!

  • British Retreat

Cornwallis set up a camp at Yorktown , which was located on the Virginia coast . The battle that took control of the south was entering its final phase . Cornwallis decided to march North to Virginia in April,1781 . Washington sent Lafayette and Anthony south to fight Cornwallis .
